Working Class Hero...

I've always been a fan of classic music and the the original version of "Working Class Hero" by John Lennon is no exception. However this Cover by Green day just blew me away. Its a great song with a powerful message thats just been amplified by Green Day. Notice the tribute to John Lennon at the end of the song....Enjoy

I think of a hero as someone who understands the degree of responsibility that comes with his freedom. Bob Dylan (1941 - )

I agree with you! I think the cover of 'Working Class Hero' by Green Day is incredible, and I also think it's better than the original Lennon version.

Rock cover versions are usually good compared to their counterparts.

My favorite cover is Lifehouse's cover of Keane's Somewhere only we know. 2 of my favorite bands. I also like Disturbeds cover of Fade to black

Even my mom likes greenday's version. And she's vehemently opposed to most covers. Avril's version of Imagine just doesnt cut it though. Jack Johnson's is awesome

That's a powerful video, though I prefer the original version, probably cos I was fed it intravenously.

Although on a more serious note,I wonder if they paid these Sudanese people for their role and whether they will get a royalty fee as well, or whether these people are just being used?It won't be the first time the entertainment industry has used politics to inch itself ahead with no care for the victims it leaves behind.

PS I have a Marilyn Manson Acoustic cover of this song if you're interested.

infi: You are a kebaba!

waseem: True hey rock covers are always better. I mean just look at travis and there cover/live performance of britney spears - hit me baby one more time. It rocked.

qdee: thanks for dropping bye :)

Priya; good taste

r: Your mum rocks hehe ! Avril's version is horrid and Jack Johnson is a legend.

queen: Its extremely powerful and Green day have been on this save the world vibe for awhile now. So i doubt they exploited those people however you never know hey.

I have to say I bought the double CD simply because Sudan Needs it and I love John Lennon's stuff, plus some of the artists really rocked it.

Hell, I even bought the not-so-advertised hip-hop version "Genocide in Sudan" (No, they didn't do covers of John Lennon)

Working Class Hero is Classic, and Green Day just... brilliance.

Regarding Bob Dylan's definition though... You notice nowadays that everybody screams about their rights... nobody does shit about their responsibility.

Everyone acts like someone owes them something, but nobody really does anything for someone else.

Peace.
