As the dust settles on yet another whirlwind month into my articles I am faced with another month that promises to be just as crazy, frantic, surprising and educational as the last four, I voluntarily turn the other cheek. With illusions of "Legal Grandeur" shattered and the images and expectations created by televisions shows like the Practice and Boston Legal cast into myth I finally begin to see a clearer picture of what my future may look like. It's a future of hard work, determination and the ability to get up when you get knocked down over and over again, never surrender ! The world of high powered suits, court room struggles and the blind justice to an extent is not as glamorous as it appears to the laymen who.....and this is a gross generalization.... believe that lawyers are only fit to swim in the river styx and prey upon the innocent like a serpent in the grass.
Ive finally... and four months may seem a long time...gotten use to the stresses and the reality that there is never enough time in the day. Days seem to merge into each other. the one indistinguishable from the other, before you know it deadlines creep up on you and so do clients calling you every 24 and a half minutes asking for an update. Things you set out to do on x day never get done because p,q,r ,s and even the square root of s crop up and have to be dealt with. However im trying to believe in the adage that states that "if you never make time how will you ever have time?" (or did i hear that in a movie?)
Everything a budding lawyer has to deal with is "URGENT", "IMPORTANT", "IMPOSSIBLE" and somehow whilst being pulled in 15 different directions you have to find some way to get it done. There is no such thing as "sorry sir but I couldn't do this", you either a South AfriCANT or a South AfriCAN ! and in today's world the latter of the two keeps their job.
Am I enjoying the law and its practice? well i havent quite decided yet......I could honestly do with some more Eli Stone days where the entire office breaks out into song to the tune of George Micheal - Faith....or I walk into a court and exclaim that I am DANNY CRANE and thereby automatically win a case. ! But unfortuantely life does not go according to a script which you and I can understand now but a script that will only be understood after we become the men and women we are meant to be.....Lets alll hope that we do.
Until we meet again

Brain Smoothie

Dont think too much It hurts!
The blades spin churning up the past.
The past ruins exposed leading to ruin.
Thrown back to forgotten times.
Thoughts dissected, manipulated, eviscerated
Conclusions raised, hope disturbed.
Confusion reigns supreme.
The Mind plays a dangerous game.
Leads to self Doubt.
More Thinking Required.
Who can enjoy this smoothie its bitter.

One or a Million! Who to save?

There are literally millions of people on the planet who need to be saved in one way or the other. The poor, depressed, uneducated, heart broken, orphaned, displaced, the rich (yes the rich need to be saved from themselves) but generally the poor need our efforts more and need us to bring them hope. But who do we save? Who is more important? Are we content saving one soul or determined to save millions? how can we do our part and still make a difference?
To give hope to these people and to assure them that they are not alone in this world is imperative. In fact it is our duty as human beings to treat our fellow humans regardless of colour or creed with the same kindness that we would expect. The grim fact is that most of the world is below the bread line and this and other economic and social factors leads to a backlog of people who are barely surviving. Everyday thousands die without a hope of being anything but a bleak statistic which organizations use to take rich people on a guilt trip.
There are numerous relief agencies and other NGO's doing tremendous work in parts of the world that some people dont even know exist. Even movie stars are making efforts to help the poor and the less fortunate adopting a kid here and there and giving them a life they would have never had. They are helping millions but still it doesnt seem to be enough and not all of us can give up so much of our time in this noble venture. Some of you will say thats nonsense and there is always time. I hope im not alone on this but sometimes there is just no time with all the other responsibilities in life and what you intend doing and what you do are never the same.
Now we all want to do something to help and to make a difference and well frankly feel alittle better because I dont think there is a person alive that doesnt feel good when helping someone so its not completely selfless. We not angels we are mortal and all have our own agendas. Now I havent made a point yet but I think I will soon, well you have read till here so please continue :)
The topic is as you can see One or a Million! who do you save? and thats my question. Is saving a million people more noble then saving one? Does it matter? Do we need to like keep score and compete about the amount of people we have helped? Keep it at a grass roots level or reach for the stars and spread yourself thin? Does one life mean less than a million?
Ofcourse I know the more people you help the better right? but what if you cant. In my opinion saving a life or helping a person is just as good as saving a million. Bringing a smile to a child who has lost his/her parents, assisting a disabled child onto his wheel chair, teaching a child to read and write, Helping an old man turn a page of a book his reading, consoling a single mother, teaching a person how to farm his land or fish, even a simple hug just to make a person feel loved are small gestures that go along way. They may seem small and insignificant but these small gestures can mean the world to a person.
Fine a hug cant make there hunger disappear, stop genocide or drought and im not saying you shouldnt give them food or relief im just saying that there is more to it then "indifferent relief". Feeding a million people will fill there bellies but teaching one man how to feed himself and he will pass that knowledge down and enable further generations to feed themselves and in essence helping thousands. Ok so basically im advocating education and some heart and thats how I feel I can help people. I could feed hundreds but if I havent brought a smile to a persons face or given them hope through a kind word, personally it will be a very hollow gesture. However I could feed one person and give them hope or even a smile and I will feel content because one life is priceless so it doesnt matter. Ok maybe my idea is abit idealistic and naive but its my view and ill practice it.
We all want to make the world turn and a better place I think I will take it one person at a time and make a difference in there life. I may make the world turn slowly but it will turn

In a Galaxy Far Far Away.....

Space the final frontier. A great big void, the harshest environment known and it could be home to millions of weird and wonderful creatures capable of FIRST CONTACT. Yes I in fact do believe in aliens, not the cliche little green men with funny space suits and ray guns but beings from another planet whether microscopic or humanoid. I'm not a alien freak or wear quasi futuristic outfits and go into the wildreness hoping to be abducted. Now this belief could be attributed to the hours and hours spent watching alien movies, X Files, Sightings and other paranormal shows but I truely believe that we cant be the only living life forms in the universe. I watched the movie Communion (which was'nt that great) when I was a kid and it scared the hell out of me, aliens with large saucer shaped eyes (like munkeer and nakeer) taking people away very scary.

I mean its really improbable that we are the only life forms capable of thought in the universe which as far as we know is infinite. I mean there are the numerous Alien sightings, crop circles (ok yes some are fake), alien crash sites (ROSWELL AND AREA 51 EXISTS PEOPLE), and just strange stuff like alien abductions, cattle mutillations and teh MEN IN Black. Ok these may not be a smoking gun and the fact that the people who do get abducted are usually from some backwater hick town, mexico or eastern europe so yaah ok but still. I mean being paranoid and thinking someone is watching you is generally excepted as normal but this cant be a mass paranoia or hysteria can it? If it was the universe according to douglas adam then yes we would be all crazy or furry.
I mean imagine first contact with an alien race that would so rock. What could we learn from them well thats if they friendly. If they like in independence day or ALIEN bursting out of our chests then no it wouldnt be cool. I would like to think of them as being like ET.
What do you guys think do they exist dont they? And theories or thoughts? you never know something in a galaxy far far away may be reading this hehe

The Revelation!

I thought this was a cool door sign. Dont you? So now when you are doing your exorcism's at hotels or some ritualistic temple ask the hotel staff or the friendly acolytes of the temple for this door sign. Remember they are there to help you unless you are the one being exorcised or sacrificed. You wouldnt want to be interrupted during an exorcism now would you. Thinking about it, its healthy every now and then to undergo a personal exorcism to reasses our life and in which way is it going. Without the spinning head and green vomit or an old and a young priest present ready to use the power of christ to compell you ofcourse.
Oh and this is for saal enjoy its actually a remix (which is not bad,but i prefer the original) if you want the original just click the link below. Oh ad I have been practicing the dance steps hehe :)

Life Imitating Blog.....
I walked into Exclusive books the other day for my usual Exclusive books walk through where I page through books that catch my eye, which is usually in the science fiction section. So im browsing like any other patron and this book catches my eye. Immediately I think of Queen Lestat's Blog and when did she convert her blog to paperback. I mean I knew we had to convert to the new blogger but didnt realize that they gave you a paperback option, which would be much more easier then all those widgets (Anyone remember the show on KTV back in the day "Widget the world watcher")So I contact her Highness and she informs me that this is a genuine fake and not her blog on paperback lol. Obviously she was distraught and inconsolable. How could this happen, the audacity of the writer to copy her, how dare he!. The name has been altered but its like a derivative of her blog title. A case of, copyright infringement? I dont know and doubt she will win not because im her lawyer but because its a dodgey case. Was she using copyleft. I would say let sleeping dogs lie but its up to the queen. Fellow bloggers dont be confused by this cheap imitation is not Queens paperback blog. Life is truely imitating blogs. hehe

2006 and the year ahead
Firstly a comment on 2006........
I was going to do a post concerning 2006 similar to Saaleha's post but I decided against it mainly because I couldnt think of alot the things I did during 2006 (No I wasnt high or abducted by aliens). So it would have been a very very short post not worthy enough to be viewed by the inhabitants of a distant planet whose idea of a fun/wild night out is a game of pictionary and watching re runs of The A team. (They do get our Television signals there). Ok madness aside lets get serious or lets not you decide.
2006 flew by faster than you can say "Wazoooo" say it.... see it was faster than that. For me it started of with dreams of medical grandieur but it was shot down (by wits) and finaly laid to rest in the boulevard of broken dreams. Sad as it was I had to get back on my Horse and begin a new chapter to my life like a phoenix rising from the ashes (Ok that was being extremely dramatic). So I began may law career and by the time I got a handle on it october arrived and I was panicking about my marks like an aggitated Howler monkey. But it went well and im enjoying it to my suprise. Briefly what else did I do hmmmm oh yaah I made new friends some I will keep forever others will fade away like a fart in the wind. One of the coolest thing I did in 2006 was start this here blog which rocks hopefully il continue with it. Basically 2006 was a blur but a good blur that I would welcome again.
OK now for 2007 which for me arrived not with a bang but introduced itself like a gentle breeze, a whisper on the wind. You could call these resolutions but I would lke to label them my 2007 personal REVOLUTIONS.
I want to:
Somebody help me, I'm being spontaneous!

The Fifth Horsemen
What I am about to tell you is so mad and mind blowing that.....it will Blow your mind and make you mad at the same time!
We all know about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse riding their particular coloured horse each with a specific power but recent events have shown the existence of a FIFTH horsemen, yes you heard right a FIFTH horsemen. Through careful study of recent weather patterns, global politics, planetary alignment and E! Entertainment Television, I have uncovered the Fifth horsemen's identity and a possible global celebrity effort to prevent the impending doom.
The Fifth Horsemen's has already arrived and it is just a matter of time before we see its major affects in Hollywood. The Fifth Horseman is non other than Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes baby SURI. Her powers are limitless and the effects were seen before her birth and will continue after, which explains a few odd occurrences in the entertainment world.
And that’s just for starters I dunno how much more we can take, even the rappers with there enchanted bling will not be safe.
Her parents Tom and Kate for some unconfirmed reason feel it necessary to subject us to their crazy antics and there child. When we tried reaching them for comments we were greeting by a series of high pitched clicks and whistles. Reasons for this might be that Tom is a stark raving lunatic, which was proven by his appearance on Oprah where he assaulted her couch, flung his arms in celebration constantly and almost broke Oprah's hands.
However the Hollywood community has seen the proverbial "writing on the wall" and has decided to fight fire with fire. The Screen Actors Guild have hatched a plan to stop SURI by coming up with there own super kid. They needed to find the too most beautiful and attractive actors and allow them to procreate. After many failed attempts (which resulted in the Osbourne's, Hilton Sisters and kevin federline when chimp DNA was used.), which they have apologized for, they have finally succeeded in BRANGELINA. They chose Brad and Angelina after the couple submitted a video of what they are capable of, this is most commonly known as Mr. and Mr.’s Smith. The Screen Actors Guild ordered Brad and Angelina to travel to the cradle of mankind, Africa, to give birth to "The Answer" to Hollywood’s woes.
The Struggle between Suri and the brangelina baby will be truly epic and the outcome will reverberate throughout the cinematic world....... well except at Samuel. L. Jackson's house because he is one B.M.F and Mexico because nothing really happens there. There are already plans in the pipeline to showcase this battle on E!, as all celebrities get a show on E!
I have fulfilled my duty of informing you about this threat, please spread the word. We need to raise awareness.
