Homo sapiens ignoramus

Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls of all ages I have successfully found a previously unknown branch of Humans, the "weak" link in human evolution, Homo sapiens ignoramus (H.ignoramus). They walk amongst us unknown and unaware that they are in fact different, "special" because they are in fact ignorant!

I think I was always aware of there presence from a young age but my first encounter with H.ignoramus must have been in high school with the subclass H.ignoramus indianus africanus (the ignorant South African Indian). My suspicions were only further reinforced when I came to Wits (The University of Witwatersrand) and I observed the subclass in all its glorious stupidity.

Now a scientific analyses of their anatomy is not required here, but what is required is a few defining features of H.ignoramus indianus africanus. The preliminary data has shown that this Indian subclass seemed to act as normal as possible but their love for ignorance shone through. They valued ignorance over knowledge and looked down upon those of us (H.sapiens) who spoke properly without vulgarity and slang, and those who had some semblance of knowledge and intellect. H.ignoramus indianus africanus had a distinct affinity for procrastination and never attempted to better themselves by going for lectures or God forbid the library, which was seen as a place of weakness like kryptonite is for Superman, and was only used at the last minute before exams or to escape the cold. They congregated on “The Steps” (a possible symbolic place for them) playing cards from 8am till 5pm unaware that their inability to think in a mature and moral way is costing thousands of Rands every year. One card game in particular called “thunnie” (forgive my spelling for this word is not known to me) were viciously contested and often ended in conflict between the players. H.ignoramus indianus africanus also seemed to try and out do each others ignorance and the most ignorant were celebrated as if they were warriors returning from the battlefield whereas the so called “geeks’ were cast aside, (they probably have a hierarchy where the most ignorant rule, that my explain our politicians).

As far as their appearance goes it is very similar to ours, in fact you cannot tell us apart. They place a lot of importance on the Brand names on their clothes, so much so that wearing something that isn’t branded is frowned upon. The males (and some females) use this gel like substance to style their hair into weird and wonderful shapes, probably in order to attract the opposite sex, or maybe it’s an adornment that they can’t live without. Some of the females in their dressing leave nothing to the imagination however they cover there hair, the reason for this I have yet to ascertain, why cover your hair when your entire body is exposed? I have a theory that they are either blending in with us, or we are following them, which would mean that their ignorance may be contagious and that we may be heading for dark times, very dark times.

Even thou they place so much emphasis on being ignorant there is only one thing more valuable to H.ignoramus indianus africanus, and that is money. Money is partly where their ignorance stems from, because most are rich, spoilt and completely rely on there fathers money. So they feel that there is no reason for them to make there own money because that would mean actually learning and why do that when they already have money, they are under the false assumption that it will never run out. There lives are driven by money, the males fathers buy them expensive clothes and cars and the Females look at these aspects when attempting to acquire a male. I fear that H.ignoramus indianus africanus will breed and become the majority, though I fear this may already have occurred. I will continue my observations in order to ascertain if they are a threat, but in the interim time please be careful of these people because it is folly to be wise in the land of the fools.

ne'er a truer word bespoken...

This species characterises Blaaaaahnia too.It is for the last few of us geeks(and proud of it)to band together. These people are flooding society with their remakable stupidity and love of all things material.

The most sicekening part is that they actually LIKE being ignorant cos it's so much easier. As Gerald Durrell said ,"I like being ignorant, you're so much more surprised when you find out..."

Sadly, many of them do not...

I take offense to this, i may wear branded clothing, have gelled hair, not attend lectures and GOD forbid i enter the library for any other reason other then to remove my friends from it's vile and sickening clutches, and i am absolutely nothing like what was described about these type of people... And i still get along very well with the so-called "geeks" in fact most of them are my really good friends, this is just a generalisation of all indians, the way a person dresses and appears should not dictate what they are like, and how they act. Therefore i conclude that the study carried out contains flawed data and much of it neds to be discarded, the margin for error in doing an analysis like this too great... Therefore in conclusion i am deeply offended by this article, as it generalises to a great degree.

(btw i know this isnt an actual scientific study and merely observations, but i must point that fact out)

infi my darling...we love you...you're just about the exception to the rule.

BUT you gotta admit that the species arriving on the scene now, do seriously lack some grey matter? You must've noticed it...it's kinda hard not to.

Well Mr. anonymous is offended, perhaps I hit a nerve ;) lol you may be an exception :)

This was not directed at anyone therefore no names were mentions so yes it is a generalization but a rather apt one in our current times, oh and Mr anon, your comments about the library prove my point.

not really hey, the libraries are pointless... they serv no purpose really u can find almost anything and everything you need on the internet now adays... they just pointless, when was the last time you went to a library to get a book to read just for fun??? its been a long time hey hasnt it??? so my point is there evrything can be found on the net, and if you cant buy it, pirate it... hahahahaha

I still disagree with this article, its too generalising, and it offends people, like i say, people should not be juged by their outward appearance and materialism, that could all be a cover, and yes its true, some of those that you have observed who appear to be ignorant are not really ignorant if you actually sat down and spoke to them... ;)

Hmmm...

these words ring true.

many a night has passed wherein i lay awake thinking these thoughts.. pondering society.. wondering where these specimens of evolution-gone-wrong appeared from..

i do agree with what is said. sadly, 'we' are in the minority

errrgggh Infi...you know what we mean, it is a generalisation albeit at sometimes a scarily apt one too....

I do have some advice although I know you're gonna bite my head off.

Get a blog...

OMG!!! OMFW!!! @ library comments. Am I the only person who prefers the feel of paper to the eyesore that is .pdf? I get a kick outta seeing the old collections and touching the yellowed pages in the special collections.*sigh*

;p

You can never underestimate the value of a library. There are some things you will never be able to get on the internet, like a sence of heritage or appreciation for the past from old books. The library has a purpose. Where do you think all the knowledge on the internet came from? Bill gates?

I don't think it's the outward appearance or the materialism that's the issue here at all. I think it's more the attitude which this particular brand of Blaaaaahnians have. The false sense of superiority and the way they be-little and look down upon those of us who want to study and who try to keep some grey matter and to have a soul too.

Exactly !

Let the past remain in the past, luk to the future i say, and well he went through all the effort to digitise it, so y not use his effort, and we can always print what we have in digital format, so we can still have the feel of paper...

And you know i'm not gonna get a blog, its just too much thinking for me to do, i do enough thinking during the day...lmao!!!!

but the article specifically mentions the branded clothing and outward appearences as well as their materialism... so it must be brought into the argument...

Mohamed Karolia said...

If we dont look to the past how can we understand our future.

lol you thinking lol hahahahahahaha

I did bring in branded clothing, but you can have branded clothing and not be materialistic. This article is aimed at those who are materialistic and dont give a damn about their fellow man.

Anonymous said...

you can be materialistic, and not care about your fellow man, but that does not imply one is ignorant. letting go of the past frees the human mind to think to the future, if we continue to dwell on the past we will remain in the past....

Hmmm...

You see what we have here is simply a clashing of stubbourness and stupidity, the brands that are worn actually come from the intellectuals, who actually know whats quality rather than the ignorant blaahnians, intellects never copy ignorants its always the other way around, the basis of the observation linking to the phsyci is however a far throw from being correct, though i love libraries i hardly been in a university library, nor have i been for lectures. Yes the phsyci of the new is a horrendous state but their style and fashion come from non geeky intellects if it came from their own than that would be saying that they might actually have some intellect and creativity...

The future my be digital, but it has a false lustre, anuthing digital does not age as well and so looses its greatness and its value.

*siiiiiiiiiiiiigggghh*

1. MoChi, use full stops or summing pleeeease. I was mostly wtf? @ your comment.Got the message eventually :)

2. Infi LOL @ blog thing

3. k-man lol@ you lol'n @ infi thinking

4.To the k-man and infi, on history:

"History is the only laboratory we have in which to test the consequences of thought." (Etienne Gilson, who was a French philosopher in the early 20th Century famous for his work on medieval stuff)
AND
"Our ignorance of history causes us to slander our own times."(Gustave Flaubert, French born 19th Century novelist(author of Madame Bovary) AND CYNICIST)
AND
"History is the present. That's why every generation writes it anew. But what most people think of as history is its end product, myth." (E.L Doctorow, one of the foremost thinkers, historians and social critics of our time)

So based on the above quotes and info which i remember reading in a BOOK in a LIBRARY...my verdict is that you're both right and you're both wrong. What they wear etc is their business, the fact that they( the particular species k-man's refering to)need to shove their stupidity down at everyone and make us seem like freaks for electing to use grey matter- that's the essence of the argument. If we accept what Doctorow says then what kind of legacy are the species under discussion leaving for the next generation?

tea? coffee? anyone?

lol... thats true...i cant deny it... well i was being irritating...as usual... i love to create a debate you know how i am...lol, newayz i still maintain and agree with MOCHI, that what a person wears and wether or no they are materialistic does not necessarily make a person ignorant.

Come on did you guys actually think i was being serious, if you were then i am deeply hurt... lol, yeah right!!!! hahahahaha...

Oh btw im just in the mood to spam your blog this weekend... hope you dont mind mate?

Mohamed Karolia said...

Dude, with that statement you just lost your arguements credibility.

Anonymous said...

lol...i stand by what i say, but im just in one of my moods... my argument holds, but the reason why continued to spam was cos i wanted to drag the argument out... but im still hurt that you guys think that of us...

I stand by the fact that u cannot equate materialism etc. to ignorance...to say that implies that one is ignorant aswell... for who are we to judge who is ignorant and who is not???
