Ramadaan Mubarak

Ramadaan Mubarak to all the Muslim Bloggers and all Muslims all over the world. Yes I know this is kinda late as we are already well into this most glorious month but hey better late then never. I'm sure every Muslim has experienced the 'Ramadaan Atmosphere' and 'Vibe' that starts immediately when news of the sighting of the moon filters through to every home via the Grape vine. Well maybe this wasn't the case for some households this year with the whole sighting of the moon debacle and the subsequent pleas for unity in the South African Muslim community, but that is another issue which I choose not to deal with.

Ramadaan for me is a time where I can recharge my spiritual batteries and attempt to get closer to my creator who has blessed me with a multitude of bounties, some more apparent then others but all the same are there. This month is one where every muslim is unified in the fast and where we all know and have experienced what our fellow muslims are feeling. Islam is a religion of equality and this is more evident during ramadaan as it doesnt matter whether you are Rich or poor, we are all obligated to fast and experience what those that are less fortunate then ourselves go through on a day to day basis. Fasting places us on an equal basis, we are at some point or the other during the day in a dwall, we experience stomach voices aka stomach noises, we all have fasting breath and we all wait for the time when we can finally partake in the food which has been prescribed as forbidden during the fast.

Ramadaan is a 'magical' month and i don't mean this in an alladin type way. But so often I find it difficult to balance my ibadat and my other worldly commitments that I at times cannot get out of. i find myself having absolutely no time and constantly having to do something. This is apparent on the surface as a number of my non muslim friends have asked 'How do you manage?'. To be honest even with the million and four things I have to do and the balancing act between ibadat, studies and other commitments I somehow find time for everything and still have this peace about my that I lack during the rest of the year. Its an amazing feeling which I couldn't do justice to by putting it in words but I think every Muslim has felt it or knows what I mean. No matter the weather conditions or the troubles of life somehow Allah Ta'ala gives one the strength to persevere and on introspection of the day that has passed it wasn't that bad. I don't know if im making sense....

I love this month and I love the atmosphere and Inshallah after this month I will become a better muslim and a better person. I wish the same upon you :)

Hope you all enjoy this month, remember to exercise patience in the face of anger.
